Clyde Travel Management was announced as the ‘2016 Best Large Business Travel Agent in Scotland’ as Scotland’s top-performing agents and suppliers were honoured at the Scottish Passenger Agents’ Association 24th annual awards ceremony, held on Thursday 03 November, at the Doubletree Hilton in Glasgow city centre.

The SPAA are the world's oldest travel organisation, representing the interests of the Scottish travel industry, and this 24th annual awards ceremony, celebrating the best that the industry has to offer, sees Clyde Travel Management winning the award for the fourth time since 2010.

SPAA president Alan Glen said the number of votes received from agents and suppliers had more than doubled this year compared to last following the introduction of electronic voting.

“This event is the recognition of all the hard work among Scotland’s agents,” he said. “We have a very close knit community. We’re competitors but we all know each other and everyone is pleased to see their peers succeed.”

Clyde Travel Management Director Brian Potter commented: “The beauty of this award is that it’s not a self-nomination process like many other awards – we are voted for by travel suppliers such as airlines, airports and car rental companies.

“The vote in confidence is based partly on our working relationship with these suppliers, as we have an open-door policy for airline representatives to come in and train staff on their products unlike some of our larger competitors. The voting also relects our staff attitude and customer service levels so it really is a team award covering all staff in all positions and locations.

“Having now become the first company to win the award in consecutive years, this level of consistency is testament to the continued development of our staff along with our bespoke technology, much of which was developed internally, to ensure that our supplier and customer interaction is second to none.

“All our staff can feel very proud of themselves as this is a true team effort in being recognised again in what is a very competitive sector.”

Qatar Airways, Emirates, Royal Caribbean and Jet2 were other winners recognised on the night.
